BAB was founded by Belachew Abebe, an Ethiopian road safety specialist with more than 35 years of experience in defensive driving across Ethiopia and East Africa.

Belachew began his career at Ethiopia’s Federal Road Transport Authority, where he served as Division Head of the Drivers and Mechanics Training Centre. In 1999, Mobil East Africa Limited selected him to attend specialized training abroad as part of its efforts to improve safety standards for drivers transporting hazardous materials.

He went on to work with Shell Ethiopia, Shell Kenya and Shell Djibouti, further strengthening his knowledge of international road safety practices. Seeing how structured training could improve driver performance, protect lives and reduce transport risks inspired him to establish BAB Road Safety Consultancy and Training Service nearly 20 years ago.
